Sixth, like Judges and the books of Samuel, the theological perspective of Ruth is thoroughly Deuteronomic. However, whereas the preceding and following compositions present a realistic picture of the Israelites and often highlight their failure to live by the standards of covenant righteousness as highlighted by the Deuteronomic Torah, Ruth presents an idealized (if not idyllic) picture of a clan pursuing righteousness. To be sure, the word צֶדֶק/צְדָקָה does not occur in Ruth, but the חֶסֶד (ḥesed)
